New features to the 5th Generation Touch include: Lightning port dock connector, a 4-inch screen, Siri, and new color choices. The 5th Generation iPod Touch was announced on September 12, 2012, and released October 10, 2012, with 32 and 64 GB models available. The 5th Generation iPod Touch is even thinner and lighter than previous models, weighing only 3.10 ounces and being only 0.24 inch thick. This lower cost model was consequently succeeded by 5th Generation iPod Touch 16 GB 2014 model which regained the features of the more expensive models the 2013 model lacked. Apple released a lower cost 5th Generation iPod Touch 16 GB model in May 2013 that lacked the rear-facing camera and wrist-strap peg on the more expensive models. The 5th Generation iPod Touch was originally released in September 2012 as 32 and 64 GB models.
